Upgrade your thermostat

An old thermostat rarely has smart built-in functions with energy optimisation. Replacing and upgrading your thermostat can significantly reduce energy consumption and electricity costs, thanks to smarter scheduling and timing of heating.

Should I replace my old thermostat?

Replacing your old thermostat has several advantages, not least in terms of reduced electricity consumption. A small investment in a new thermostat gives greater savings in the long run.

In the past, the need for thermostats was mainly to be able to set the heat, but not much more than that. Today we think differently and want to optimise our underfloor heating installations to get as low energy consumption as possible. Functions and simplicity, time control and scheduling together with smart control on digital platforms are then needs that are constantly increasing and provide great added value.

The advantages of switching to EB-Therm 500

Our older thermostats have few functions and settings. This means that the thermostat is only set according to a temperature and controlled according to the sensor specified. It does not take into account whether you are at home, whether it is day or night, or whether the price of electricity is high. You then need to manually turn off the heating when you leave home or, for example, at night.

With today's thermostats, such as EB-Therm 500, which is our most modern smart thermostat, you can easily use weekly programs, set the temperature to reduce a few degrees when you are not in need of a heated home. In addition, being able to lower the temperature at night has great advantages for consumption. All to save on heating costs, without sacrificing comfort.

EB-Therm 500 has a colour display and touch keys. The thermostat is very easy to use and can be adjusted according to your home’s needs. If you want to be able to control the heating with your mobile phone, you need to purchase an EB-Connect WiFi card, which is an accessory that allows you to connect your thermostats to WiFi. Everything can then be controlled using our Ebeco Connect app. With a connected thermostat, you can also integrate with your other Google Home systems. If you also want to be able to control the heating according to the electricity price, it can also be done with our integration with the electricity company Tibber.

EB-Therm 500 supports many different sensors, which means that you can switch from many other brands of thermostat to Ebeco's thermostat.

Can I replace and install the thermostat myself?

What applies to whether you, as a private person, can replace the thermostat without a professional is different depending on which country you live in. We recommend that you choose someone who is used to installing our products by using ‘Find an installer"’.

How do I replace a thermostat?

Replacing your existing thermostat is done in a few steps (the example is for EB-Therm 500):

  1. Turn off the power to the thermostat, usually via the fuseboard or via fuses in the main junction box
  2. Lift off the front and frame by pushing a screwdriver into the groove on the underside. Lift the front until you hear a ”click”
  3. Disconnect the existing thermostat
  4. Connect according to the manual and instructions on the back of the new thermostat. Protective conductors for incoming supply as well as for heating cable are connected with a coupling clamp in the box
  5. Install the thermostat in the box, with the arrow pointing upwards. Insert the thermostat into the appliance box and screw in with existing screws
  6. Replace the front by first hooking the lower part. Then press your thumb into the upper part of the front until you hear a "click"
  7. Turn the power back on and complete the settings using the setup wizard in the thermostat

Always read the manual that is included in the package. It is also available for download on the product page.

Where are Ebeco thermostats sold?

Our thermostats are sold at both electrical wholesalers for companies and also in department stores that sell electrical items. You will also find our thermostats in several well-known online stores. If you choose to have an electrician replace your thermostat, you can ask the company to buy it for you through wholesale.
