Underfloor heating has many features making it an effective form of heating. For example, the heating cable is installed near the surface which allows the air to warm up, effectively helping to warm the entire home quickly. Another positive feature is the optimal heat distribution that makes it possible to lower the temperature just a tiny bit. A few degrees makes a big difference to energy consumption. You still get great comfort - but a low electric bill.

Effective Insulation

Perhaps the most important factor in reducing energy costs is good insulation. The insulation does not absorb heat. Making the heat from the floor reflect upwards minimizes energy loss. The alternative being loosing the heat downwards, or out the sides - in effect a complete heat loss. This ensures a much quicker heating process, the insulation board at the same time working as a protection against cold and moisture from below. Smart Control

A good control system is essential for energy efficiency. Uneven heating is neither pleasant nor economical. A well adjusted and smart control system keeps an even temperature in all the rooms. All Energy Saver labeled thermostats  are equipped with "fuzzy technology". This means that the thermostat collects data from the start and from this data automatically calculates when to switch on and off. It keeps temperature fluctuations to a minimum, which provides an even heat and less energy used.

A tip for reducing energy costs is to adjust the heat to your actual needs throughout the day. A smart thermostat adjusts the heat according to your needs. For example,  lowering the temperature when you're away from home, and making sure it's warm when you get back. Or to be a little cooler at night which is good for sleep and the electric bill.
